Diablo 20th Anniversary

"Stay awhile and listen."

I'm as much of a Diablo fan as I am a WoW fan. While I never played the original or D2, I've logged countless of hours into D3 and still do with each season. I guess you could imagine my excitement when I heard that the 20th anniversary celebration of Diablo would also be coming to World of Warcraft along with some exclusive items. As with all timed holidays, I get a little nervous because I want to be able to collect everything, and I wasn't sure how bad the drops would be. It turns out they weren't too bad at all.

After poking my nose around for a bit more information, I learned that the best place to consistently find treasure goblins was the Dalaran Underbelly. This caused me to spend more time in the sewers where I was able to grind out a ton of sightless eyes, but I'll save that for another blog post. There always seemed to be a ton of people hanging around the area for the event, so it was never hard to kill a goblin unless someone decided to stun it, causing it to make an escape portal. If the kill was successful, a portal would spawn to take you away to the "Cow Level" upon clicking it.

There is no cow level... right?
Upon entering the "Cow Level", you would have a five minute buff that allowed you to stay in the zone. It was just a field filled with, you guessed it, cows! After enough of them was killed, a rare spawn called the Cow King would come out and fight you. He dropped a Twelve-String Guitar that plays the Diablo Tristram theme. If you ever wanted to be a bard, this is your chance! It's a shame it doesn't have your character hold a lute while strumming along. The boss also had a chance to drop the Livestock Lochaber Axe though I sadly didn't get a chance to collect that item. The next part of the event left me to grind out enough scrolls to combine with a tome to make the town portal toy. I thought for sure killing all of those goblins would eventually net me a Horadric Satchel, but that bag ended up taking me the longest to get. One ended up dropping for me two days before the event expired.

While a lot of people probably wanted more from this event, I'm surprised and really glad that Blizzard actually gave us something to do. It was really refreshing to see a crossover in WoW, and I hope they would do something for another one of their games once it reaches a big milestone. This could have even made players who never set foot in the Diablo universe give the game a try.  If this was a little taste of what's to come with micro holidays, I'm all for it. Our first official micro holiday is happening this week, and I'm sure I'll want to talk about it. Regardless of what you thought about the event, it was a nice little break from the monotony of world quests and artifact power grinding.

Blizzcon 2016

Blizzcon is over! I spent two glorious days planted on my couch while watching things on some of my favorite games. You know what, being a couch potato is a lot more difficult than you would think; I'm so achy! Anyway, the only thing I have left to watch is the final Heroes of the Storm match. Then I am completely done. As always, I was surprised and excited over some of the announcements while others left me wanting just a little more. Here I will touch on what I'm excited for in some of my favorite Blizzard games. This is the only time of the year that I really discuss anything other than Warcraft here, so it's always a treat. This is kind of a long one, so I put it under a cut so it won't clutter up my front page.

Post Blizzcon Thoughts

It's been a few days since Blizzcon, and I believe I've caught up with almost everything that I was interested in. This may be a bit of a longer blog post, and not just about WoW since I'm excited for a few other things coming to other Blizzard titles.

I've been purchasing the virtual ticket every year that it was available to do so. It's just not feasible for me to go to Blizzcon, nor do I do well in that kind of packed environment. The virtual ticket is just an overall better experience for me all around. However, this was the first year that we were able to purchase the Blizzon goody bag as well. I received mine the morning of Blizzon, so it made the virtual ticket experience that much more special even though I was enjoying it from my couch.

To be honest, I was nervous. After all the excitement I felt last Blizzcon for Warlords followed by the disappointment of the expansion, I didn't know what to expect. I also was pretty bummed at the lack of Diablo III time scheduled out. That didn't give me much hope. The long awaited Warcraft movie trailer also danced through my mind. Was I even excited to see it anymore? I felt like marketing for it has just been one entire drawn out process gone completely wrong. To my surprise, Blizzard delivered everything I wanted to hear and more.

Reaper of Achievements

Sorry, I couldn't help myself with the title! I will admit, I had a pretty blah beginning of the week with the release of Reaper of Souls. I pre-ordered my Collector's Edition from Amazon using Amazon Prime which means I would get free 2-day shipping with the promise of a release date delivery. Needless to say, I didn't get it in due to an error on their part. They also couldn't give me an estimate on when they would have my copy available to ship, so I cancelled my order thinking of getting a Digital Deluxe Edition. However, my boyfriend snagged the last copy at our local Gamestop along with 2 really pretty posters. That's all I'm going to mention about Diablo since this is a WoW blog, so here is the adorable little Treasure Goblin mini pet that came with the CE. He his now level 25 and one of my favorites already!

Since I've been scraping the bottom of the barrel for things to do in WoW, I've been going out and getting some of the achievements I've always wanted, but just never got around to doing. Here are a few I've gotten recently.

I was extremely happy about getting Alone In The Darkness. I had two friends that boosted Horde characters to level 90, so we're able to get them to run stuff with us. We easily killed Yogg-Saron, but no mount dropped this time. I'm also working on getting my Legendary Staff. On our next Firelands run, I should be able to complete Delegation. I'm pretty excited to share that experience with you all in an upcoming blog post.

I also found this funny. I spend my entire Saturday working  on The Longest Day... and believe me, it was a long day! While in Pandaria, someone must have gotten bored and tossed some Ethereal Mutagen potions on some of the battle pets. It made for some really funny screenshots I wanted to share with you all. I needed those smiles during that long achievement.

I also added a new mount to my collection on Monday. Bloodlord Mandokir finally dropped his raptor mount for me! It feels weird to not be running Zul'Gurub daily, so I replaced it with 5 runs of the Vortex Pinnacle for that mount.

I think this will be my last "real" blog post for a while. I say that like the others aren't real, but I will be doing the 30 Days of WoW challenge in April where I will be blogging every day about a certain topic. I'm really excited for it and hopefully I don't fall behind. I may do an update post or a Blog Azeroth topic in between as long as it doesn't overwhelm me.
