Deaths of Chromie

It's been a long time since I posted here. I didn't forget, but life, illness, and other things have gotten in the way. Patch 7.2 has been out for a long time now, and it still feels like I'm just starting to actually touch the content. I guess that's the downfall of having new content so fast; you feel like you're never really caught up. That's not always a bad thing though, but I'm not here to complain. I'm here to talk a little more about was something that I didn't originally care about when it was mentioned: The Deaths of Chromie.

I guess it was a mistake on my part, but I wasn't really sure what it would be. I don't like to read too much into data-mined things either, because when it comes down to the patches, I like to be surprised. I originally thought it was going to be almost like a challenge where waves of enemies come to you to fight off. If Chromie died, you failed. What I got instead was a much better experience that left me wanting more single player content like this from Blizzard. I know Blizzard tapped into this by adding Pet Battle dungeons, which I don't love. I will admit that Deadmines is a lot better than Wailing Caverns. I hope they improve with more additions.

Back to Chromie. In the scenario, you're trying to figure out who is trying to, well, kill her. The whole thing first takes you to the different dragon shrines in Dragonsblight followed by different portals to different areas in Azeroth. In each area, you will working toward different objectives. Though some objectives can be unclear, once you know what to do, the majority are fairly easy. I am currently stuck on the Battle for Andorhal section. Though it's a bit frustrating having to try over and over, I know the satisfaction of getting it done will be worth it in the end!

As I said before, I really love this new trend of solo player content that I can jump into whenever I have the time. I do think players enjoy the flexibility of being able to jump into something they can work towards by themselves (such as the mage tower challenges) whenever they feel like it. I also like how this scenario offers some rewards such as a title, transmog, and mini pets. These little treats keep you wanting to continue so you can collect everything. So the question I want to leave you with is, would you enjoy more single player content in Warcraft? And if you haven't tried the Deaths of Chromie yet, go now!

  1. Welcome back, Melanie - nice to see a new post from you :)

I hear you on the loads of content; I will never finish with this game, I think!

Oh the Deadmines Pet Battle Dungeon is better than Wailing Caverns? I only tried Wailing Caverns once, and I couldn't make it passed the last boss. It was very timeconsuming, I think! But then again, I went in blindfolded, as I normally do, and my pet battle collection is quite humble too.

I first disliked the Chromie scenario, but I have grown to be fond of it; it was a neat thing, and I ended up just hiding the timer, exploring on Dragonshrine at the time, and so forth.

Battle for Andorhal was not an easy one to figure out on the spot either. If you want tips without too many spoilers, let me know :)

Yes I really like these solo challenges too. If I could have one wish, it is, that they would scale with gear though, so we all get put at "equal terms". But I think Chromie actually does that? Mage Tower challenge did not.

I certainly would enjoy more single player content :) I rarely have time to devote to a group, so it's right up my alley.

    Thanks for sharing :)

    1. Hello Alunaria and thank you for the comment! I love the fact that they keep adding stuff, but I guess the good thing about it is that we can’t complain that we have nothing to do! Lol

I honestly think I prefer the Deadmines pet battle dungeon just because it doesn’t feel as long (I think they have less battles), and the fact that it looks much nicer. Wailing Caverns can be quite a depressing looking wet mess. I do hope as they add more in the future, they will take into consideration to use some of the more interesting dungeons. I think we’d all like that.

Oh, I’m an explorer at heart, so I definitely want to go back and explore as much as I can of the Chromie scenario once I’m finished it. It’s on my list of things to do! I’m not sure about it scaling, but I think that’s a great idea. Fun little things like that shouldn’t just be sealed off to max level players, and I definitely think that new players would love to try it out as well.

I followed your blog and on Twitter. I’m always looking out for new bloggers. I can’t wait to read more of your content as well. <3

  2. Oh hi! Sorry I missed your response here, thank you for poking me on Twitter :)

Aha, ok, I see. I should really press on in WC so I can move into DM then :) Thank you!

Yeah, I think so too, all this "it all starts at endgame" has been taken a bit too far, I think. I see no harm in it scaling down either.

Oh I am glad to hear that, i am rarely on Twitter, but you know where to find me then :)
