I guess it's a good time to participate in a Blog Azeroth topic again. They have a few good ones over on the forum. I want to do a few others, but this one stood out to me first after looking over the list.
"So, what are your top 5 mounts - or just the ones you go to all the time because you like the way they ride? What are the ones you really dislike and can never bring yourself to use - does it rub against your collecting nature (if you have one) to buy all the mounts even though you know you will never use them?"
I decided not to talk about the ones I really dislike because honestly, there isn't really any. I'm the kind of person that thinks certain mounts can be used for certain occasions. For example, you will rarely see me riding any wolf mount, but I will definitely be riding them for Warlords of Draenor. Instead i decided to focus on my all time favorites so far (ones that I own), and my wishlist (ones I wished to own). Enjoy!
My Top 5 All Time Favorite Mounts
After much heartache of seeing its corpse, and headaches from fighting with other people camping, and time lost (heh heh), on 3.4.2012, I was finally able to call it my own!
#4 - Raptors!
I cannot pinpoint any specific raptor for this, because I love them all! This was the first grind I made in BC to get a different faction mount other than my factions. They will always hold a special place in my heart.
I was lucky enough to get this mount ages ago when Baron Rivendare was still in Stratholme. The farming process didn't take me too too long either. My Feat of Strength is dated 11.1.10, so I'm assuming that's when I got it!

This is my most recent mount that I've acquired, and I'm constantly using it. I've always wanted this one since Zul'gurub was re-released in Cataclysm as a 5 man. My boyfriend was lucky enough to get the Raptor at level while in a random dungeon group. Too bad I had to wait to get this one... it was worth it!
#1 - Ashes of Alar
While a ton of people already have this mount, I don't care. It's still my favorite. I never dreamed of owning this and couldn't be happier I do now. Some people don't know this, but the legend of Ezra lives on through this beautiful mount.
My Top 5 Mount Wishlist
#5 - Magic Rooster Egg
I'm not even entirely sure why I want this mount, but why not? It's just way too awesome to pass up! Most people would rather spend their gold on a Spectral Tiger... not me! I'd be perfectly happy riding around on this giant rooster!
I seriously have this deep rooted obsession with Ahn'Qiraj. It's one of my favorite raids, I love the battle tanks, and I wish we could ride them all everywhere! If you see someone with it, /salute them!
#3 - Hearthsteed
I think the Horde version is red. |
This mount is still a mystery to everyone. I though for sure it was going to be from another annual pass where we would get WoD Beta access, D3: RoS free, and this mount. Sadly that's not the case and we're all still unsure what promotion Blizzard is referring to.
#2 - Feldrake
As a Burning Crusade baby, this mount speaks to me. I have the perfect transmog for it, and I'm actively awaiting it to come up on my server at a decent price. There is no doubt that this one will be in my collection someday soon.
#1 - Invincible's Reins
I would give all my gold for this mount.... I would give every other mount I have for this mount. This mount is the mount of all mounts. Seriously, I would give up a lot of things for this mount. I don't even know if I can express my immense love for this horse. I think another reason for this mount being my favorite is the lore behind it, and the fact that you can visit his dug up grave in Eastern Kingdoms. Arthas needed his trusty steed in death too. Invincible... we shall ride together someday!
If that post didn't satisfy your mount craving, make sure to visit Warcraft Mounts. There you can create a profile, add, exclude, and show off your collection. Click here to see mine!
I hope I was able to inspire you to take a look at your mount collection and maybe compile your own wishlist, or even start to hunt down a few that you've been lusting after for a while. Anyway, I leave you with lots of luck in your mount farming adventures - Happy hunting!

Had I done a mount wish list I think it would have been pretty similar to yours! I was so excited when I first saw the Hearthsteed and this week when the boyfriend said there was a new mount I was ecstatic... then I realised it was the Iron Skyreaver.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea there was a Warcraft Mounts site - I use the pet one so I'll be sure to check it out :)
I still have no idea what the Hearthsteed could be from. I just know that in the achievement is says it's from a "Heartstone Promotion". I hope we can all add it to our collections someday!
DeleteWarcraft Mounts has really gotten a lot better since it was taken over by a new owner. I like it a lot. One of the downfalls is you can see all the mounts that are in game files, but never became available to player. It makes me wishlist grow more and more!!!
Hey! I've got the herthsteed by downloading the hearthstone game, you have to play the tutorial and then go online and play against players, I don't remember if you have to defeat one or if you have to play 5 matches. However, it is pretty easy to get and will take you around 2 hours or less. Afterwards it will be sent to your mail in WoW.
DeleteThank you for the reply! When I wrote this, the Hearthsteed was only data-mined so we knew nothing more about it. The news on how to get it wasn't fully released until March. Of course after that, I think everyone was happily able to add it to their collection!
